Default Suck / Sucks

Are these correct? What's the subject and what's the verb?
1. The generating points in this map suck.
2. The generating points in this map sucks.

Is 'in this map' a clause? If not, what do you call that part?

Thanks.

"The generating points on the map suck."

This is a complete sentence on its own, where 'the generating points on the map' is the noun phrase subject of the verb 'suck'.

A clause is an expression including a verb and a predicate that gives an "extra information" about the subject and doesn't make sense if it's used by itself (see in italics)
ex: the generating points, which are on the map, suck.
