parallelism and correlative conjunction
hello
I have questions about the subjects above
How can i correct the faulty parallelism in this sentence?
Galileo found it difficult to believe that the sun rotated around the earth and the earth to be the center of the universe.
Also how i can correlative conjunction?
1-Felipe hopes to be a champion surfer. He also plans on graduating from college.(both....... and)
2-Lisa has no time to go roller skating tonight . She does not have the energy to go.(neither...nor)
3-the waiter was amazed. The customer ordered frogs legs and escargots.(both...and)
4-The students could not guess the meaning of the words. He could not find it in the dictionary.(neither...nor)
thanks

I will do the first one. Try to do the rest in the same way and post your answers.
1-Felipe hopes to be a champion surfer. He also plans on graduating from college.(both....... and)
Felipe hopes to be both a champion surfer and also a college graduate.
2-Lisa has no time to go roller skating tonight . She does not have the energy to go.(neither...nor)
3-the waiter was amazed. The customer ordered frogs legs and escargots.(both...and)
4-The students could not guess the meaning of the words. He could not find it in the dictionary.(neither...nor)
thanks

Re: parallelism and correlative conjunction
Hello
thank for your post. I tried doing these sentences.
1-Galileo found it difficult to believe that the sun rotated around the earth and that the earth was the center of the universe.
2-Lisa has neither time to go roller skating tonight nor have the energy to go.
3-the waiter was both amazed and The customer was ordered.
4-
The students could neither guess the meaning of the words nor could find it in the dictionary.
Are these correct?
thank you

1-Galileo found it difficult to believe that the sun rotated around the earth and that the earth was the center of the universe. Good.
2-Lisa has neither time to go roller skating tonight nor does she have the energy to go. The verb still has to agree with subject, Lisa.
I would say "Lisa has neither the time nor the energy to go ...
But yours is not wrong, once corrected.
3-the waiter was both amazed and The customer was ordered.
The customer was ordered? No wonder the waiter was amazed!
I think this question means that the waiter was amazed by the customer ordering those two things.
4-
The students could neither guess the meaning of the words nor could find them in the dictionary.
could carries over and applies to 'find'.
Are these correct?
thank you
You need to pay more attention to the form of the sentence after 'nor' etc. Sometimes the word order changes. Also watch the subject/verb agreement.
