The word "bowl" is comprised of the consonant <b>, the liquid <l>, and the diphthong <ow>. Dipthongs are sounds made up of two parts: one is a vowel and the other is a glide. There are two glides in English: <y> and <w>. In the word "house", the sound represented by the letters "ou" is called a diphthong. Hope that helps. |
