revising of a few sentences 3

Would you be kind enough to revise the following sentence?

He enumerated the species threatened with extinction.

A raging flood threatened the city.

threaten = menace, endanger, imperil

I tried to hammer home to my daughter the fact that she would have to enroll at Sofia University.

hammer something home = make someone understand or realize something

The President sat at his desk till midnight hammering out his speech for the next day.

hammering out = to write or produce by hard work

Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Green have hammered out their difference of opinion.

The club members have hammered out an agreement between the two groups.

hammer out = to remove, change, or work out by discussion and debate; debate and agree on (something)

Scores missing after explosion at hydro power plant

scores = large numbers

The tentative launch date of the Russian interplanetary probe has been set for 2016, which will be done with the help of the domestic heavy class launcher (such as the already-existing "Proton" or “Angara,” which is currently being developed).

tentative = supposed, assumed, putative

Your posts are always VERY long.

If you were to post between 4 and 6 sentences per post, people might have more energy to review them. I just look at how long they are and sigh.

I went down as far as "tentative" and the only comment I have is that the "scores" one is in a style used by headlines; as long as that was your intent, all looked okay up to that point.

Hello Vil,

I studied from the point where Barb D left. That is the use of verb ‘cleave’ having varied and contrasting meanings. All are Ok. The examples are many and with variety. As commented by Barb D, some of your posts are too long for some one to have patience and energy to study each one closely. Should you limit it to a maximum 10, many would love to contribute their opinions.
