I guess "crop field" will be ok.But honestly I haven't fully understood your question whether you are referring to the state of the crops (grown enough to be harvested) or something else. I mean, are you emphasizing the field or the crops or the farmers who grow them.

I'm unsure about 'along' in this context. "We walk along a street/path/river bank..." and ...'Walked beside the river."

Perhaps, 'beside'...or if appropriate, 'through', as in "We walked through fields covered with wild flowers."

Thank you very much for your explanation. Now I know I can't use the word "grown".

This is a sentence from our text book. I have no ability to identify the mistake. If you don't think it is correct I am sure it is incorrect. I think what you meant is if we walk in the field then we are walking on soil or mud, which is not a pleasant thing to do. Is that right?
