| "a" modifies a noun: Manager: We need to talk, Pat. Pat: Is it because I was late for work today? Manager: No. It's about a different matter. A more important matter. "a" modifies "matter", and "more" sits inside where it modifies "important matter" a matter => an important matter => a more important matter |

| Thank you for your explanation. I would be grateful if you could comment on my example as there is 'than' after 'more'. ....., we cannot be totally comprehensive but we do feel we have a more than adequate overview of the socio-cultural context. Would it be correct if I said : .....we have more than an adequate overview..... Thanks. |
