What does this statement mean?
There is a time to hold 'em and there is a time to fold 'em.
Thanks in advance,
Dany
I think it's a poker term, even though I don't know much about that game. It means you know when to walk away from the game, when you know it's not worth it pushing your luck, enough is enough, call it quits. Hold them or fold them term is used outside the poker game as well...simply: know your limits.Originally Posted by Dany
No, it isn't about a poker term. It was in a statement of CNN about the Killing of Robert Mc Cartney. They want to catch the killer, and in that case someone said: "There is a time to hold 'em and there is a time to fold 'em." I don't know, what the words "hold" and "fold" mean in that case.Originally Posted by Marylin
By the way. Who is Robert Mc Cartney? I only know Paul Mc Cartney.
