Get by/Figure out
Hi everybody. I need the help of a teacher or of a native because I'd like to know if these two verbs (to get by/to figure out) can have the same meaning in this context.
A) Father: Sam, are you ok?
Sam: Yes dad, don't you worry, I'll get by on my own.
B) Father: Sam, are you ok?
Sam: Yes dad, don't you worry. I'll figure it out.
Do these two verbs mean the same thing? Or do they have the same meaning just in this particular context?
Thanks very much for any explanation about these two verbs.
Re: Get by/Figure out
No, generally they don't mean the same thing, although in these examples they could be taken as meaning the same.
