any linguists out there maybe you can answer this
Suppose you ask a friend what he thought of the new movie in town and he replies, “Well, the costumes were authentic.” Which rule guides you to the inference that your friend probably didn’t like the movie? Why?
My assumption was that they violated the quantit maxim as he did not give you enough info to know if he liked it. Correct me if I am wrong
