I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
A useful idiom here (and it's uses a phrasal verb) is 'written off':
My motorcycle was written off. or My motorcycle was a write off.
(The damage is so great that it's not worth repairing the bike. The insurance company 'writes off' its value.)
