Hello everyone!
How are you?
I kind of figure out what these following expressions mean...not sure though.
Could you tell me if I think right?
"For what it's worth" (...In fact/ at least we should mention the fact that...). Ex: For what it's worth, I think you're a great Capitain!
"
If it wasn't/weren't for you, [...] (...If you haven't been there...)
Ex: If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't have made it this far. So thank you
"
You may/might as well.." (..Be at the end a matter of...)
Ex: You may as well get used to it.
"
Pull yourself together" (...Don't let yourself down)
"
Get over yourself" (...Stop kidding)
"
Give it up for something/somebody!" (..To acclaim sthg/s.b!)
"
This is more like it" (...It's better this way)
[before taking action] "I don't know about this" (..this doesn't feel right)
I guess their meanings can change depending on contexts...
Actually, the problem is that I can't find their equivalents in my language (French),...Translations would be welcomed!!!!
+ 'dud', 'perk' (U.S). What do they mean?
Many thanks!
