Hitting my stride
Happy new year everybody!
I would like to catch the meaning of the phrase *hitting my stride*, I cannot find it in any dictionary!

1. To achieve a steady, effective pace.
2. To attain a maximum level of competence.

"Hitting your stride" comes from running -- that moment when you feel that the wind is at your back and you are really moving well. We often use "hitting your stride" to indicate that -- perhaps after some challenges -- you are finally moving confidently in the right direction.
