Dear teachers,
Could you help me to read the mood of this sentence?

I went through hell spending two hours and a half with a girl who promised me more than she gave at last.

It is supposed to mean that he became tired spending so much time with a girl and expected some sexual advantages but she only promised him a lot and then... nothing.
It is a calque from my mothertongue so I'm not sure whether someone would say something like that in English.

Are you sure it's hours, and not years?

The sentence would sound better as:

I went through hell spending two and a half hours(years?) with a girl who promised me more than she gave in the end.

or:

I went through hell spending two and a half hours(years?) with a girl who, in the end, promised me more than she gave.

Your intepretation of it is correct. Although, the guy is rather impatient if he only waited two and a half hours!

No, It's not a mistake - 'two hours and a half'

May I replace 'I went through hell' by 'I was in tormnt/torture'?
Maybe you're right that this hell is a bit too strong.

Two and half hours, instead of two hours and a half, is more natural (as shown above).

You can say you were in torment, I guess, but seriously? A two and half hour investment is supposed to result in sex? What a dog!
