To-infinitive & Gerund

Dear teachers,

1. I try to sing.

2. I try singing.

I know both of the underlined are objects.

Are they both correct?

Are there verbs only followed by gerund or to-infinitive?

Your guidance is highly appreciated.

1. eg. Whenever I'm really nervous, I try to sing. ...but sometimes I just can't sing

2. eg. Whenever I'm really nervous, I try singing. ...but sometimes singing doesn't make me feel better

For example, the verb 'decide' sometimes takes only the infinitive.
Sometimes I decide to go very early. :tick:
Sometimes I decide going very early. :cross:
