Far too complex for a forum such as this.
Here is a starting point [hope you can access these links!]:
CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA: Sacrifice of the Mass
Order of Mass: Basic Texts for the Roman Catholic Eucharist
You are touching on a thorny subject here. Christianity is the bedrock of Western civilization, and in its time and place of enormous importance and influence. Even where it is being rejected, its morals and attitudes often survive within the legal systems.
Be aware that it is primarily the Roman Catholic church (and maybe a few others) that celebrate the mass. Most Protestant churches do not; so most Christian churches do not. Protestant churches generally call their meetings services.
The crucial part of the mass is the sacrament of Holy Communion. This is a rite during which small wafers of bread are changed into the body of Christ in a process called transubstantiation. This is taken to be a literal transformation (as opposed to the metaphorical interpretation of those Protestant churches who celebrate Holy Communion.) The priest then drinks the blood of Christ (transubstantiated from wine), while small pieces of their God's body are eaten by the members of the congregation.
