about the usage of 'other than'

i always feel thanks to you for your kind anwsers.
today i have a question about 'other than'
would you tell me which is correct between 'They're just pursuing interests other than raising children.' and 'They're just pursuing interests other than raise children.'
if the latter is not correct, is this sentence 'There is nothing more satisfactory than see a dream come true.' incorrect, too?
if so, let me know why it's unsuitable to use 'other than raise children.'

'other than' functions as a conjunction. It joins, or co-joins two like forms. Notice in [1] that 'interests' and 'raising' function as nouns. The former is a plural noun and the latter, 'raising', is a gerund, a verbal noun.

In [2], 'interests' and 'raise' are different in form. 'raise' is not a noun. It's an unmarked infinitive verb. In that example, 'other than' joins two unlike forms, and the reason [2] is ungrammatical.

It's possible for 'other than' to join two verbs, but not a verb and a noun, as in [2].

EX: Other than raise children, she also works full-time. (verb + verb)
