a gastronomy of the eye
Could anyone help me with the meaning of " a gastronmy of the eye" in the following sentence:
Thus in presenting to their readers a 'gastronomy of the eye' largely made up of 'the odd, the exotic and the trival' to use Carey's (1986: 163) terms, these newspapers were expeditiously redefining what could and should qualify as news for 'ordinary people' in the context of their daily lives.
Re: a gastronomy of the eye
Gastronomy is the art or science of good eating. If we add "eye" to that, we get something that means, pleasing to the eye.
