i need some help with this sentence: The service at the restaurant was slow, it HAD TAKEN us more then an hour BEFORE we got our order. i'm not sure about "had taken", however as i know it "before" requests such a verb to be put. so i don't know.... could you write me if the sentence is ok but if it's not, please write why. thank You.

I would use the simple past there. Because you have 'before' there the sequence is clear enough without using the past perfect.

The service at the restaurant was slow, it HAD TAKEN us more then an hour BEFORE we got our order. I would say: The service at the restaurant was slow - it had taken more than an hour to get our order. OR... The service at the restaurant was slow as it took more than an hour to get our order. In any case I would not use the word "us" as it was not their waiting for theis food that slowed things down.
