Are these correct? If not, why? What do they mean?
1. If you wanted to get him out, why didn't you just tell us there was a problem? (Is this a conditional sentence? Or am I just referring back to the past?)
2. If you wanted to get him out, why hadn't you just tell us there was a problem?
3. If you had wanted to get him out, why didn't you just tell us there was a problem?
4. If you had wanted to get him out, why hadn't you just tell us there was a problem?
I know there are conditional rules for sentences. Are there for questions as well? If so, are they the same as sentence ones?
Thanks.
Number 1 is correct. Conditional rules for questions are the same as for sentences. I wouldn't call this a real conditional.![]()
Only #1 is correct? Why are the other ones not okay?
THanks.
