Can somebody help me correct these sentences?

1) The announcement was lack of clarity so i didn't get what the announcer said.
2) The announcement was lack of clarity so i didn't know what the announcement is about.
3) The announcement was so distorted that i didn't get it/uderstand it.
4) He try to say some word in French randomly and hope he can make up some word correctly/get some word correctly.

1 & 2: the announcement lacked clarity so I didn't get what it said.
3 seems normal to me!
4: He tries to speak some words in French randomly, and I hope he can choose the words correctly. (is that what you meant?!)
