intransitive instead reflecsive
Dear teachers,
Would you be kind enough to share with me your appreciated opinion concerning the following two sentences?
George’s eyes adjusted gradually to the light from the distant streetlamp. (= adjusted themselves)
He conducted very well. (He conducted himself..)
He hired out to a farmer. (He hired himself..)
You must protect against catching a cold again. (You must protect yourself…)
I was rubbing down when I heard the door-bell pull. (I was rubbing myself down ..)
Then they went down the steep bank and up the other bank, pulling up by some projecting roots.
Thank you for your efforts.
Regards,
V.

He hired himself out to a farmer. (He hired himself..= to offer one's services for payment)

I was rubbing down when I heard the door-bell pull. (I was rubbing myself down .Not necessarily, rub down is a phrasal verb meaning: to give a massage to.)
Then they went down the steep bank and pulled up to the other bank (, pulling up) by some projecting roots. Ok
Thank you for your efforts.
