Default adverb or adjective ?

Excuse me for asking for help.

"The people in the South of Great Britain speak better English than people in the North."

"better" is adv or adj ?

Many thanks for help.

Adjective- it modifies 'English'; the adverb would be in a different position:

The people in the South of Great Britain speak English better than people in the North.

Default Passive or V + adj ?

Hello,

What is what? Passive or V + adj ?

1.
a).I am bored to death.
b).I am bored with doing the same thing evry day
.
2.
a).The long walk tired the child.
b). The child was tired with the long walk.
c).The child was tired of the long walk.
d).The child was tired by the long walk.
would you mind showing me the passive structures and the V + adj ones and the incorrect setences of mine.

Thank you a lot for help.

Only transitive verbs can be put into the passive. The verb BE (is, am, are, was, were, and so on) isn't transitive. It's a linking verb:

Linking Verb + Adjective
a) I am bored to death.
b) I am bored with doing the same thing evry day

Causative Verb: The long walk tired the child. (the walk caused the child to be tired.)
Passive => The child was (made) tired by the long walk.

Thank you very much for your help,Casiopea.

What is the difference between tired(1) and tired(2) in the following sentences:

1.The child was tired(1) by the long walk.
2.The child was tired(2) of the long walk.

I mean which is an adj and which is a past participle?

I am looking forward to your help again.
