Default Quick grammar question

A quick question...

I have been looking at the following sentence for a very, very long time...

Could you please tell me why the following sentece is incorrect?

He doesn't work as hard as she does.

It's driving me crazy!
Thank you so much!

Who says it's wrong? Maybe they're looking for 'as she works'. Some people prefer not to use the verb, just 'as she', but there's nothing wrong there unless I've gone crazy too.
