Dear teachers, please help me, i'm confuesd about these sentences.

not long ago, i saw some threads in ESL started by senior members, in regard to some of their sentences, i find i cant understand clearly,now i'm petty curious and hope i can know what they want to communicate to other members,thus i quote the sentences which i'm confused about here, please tell me the meanings, thank you in advance!

1st.

At the same token,here in Canada we have our entire banking, online government pages, government voice mail, etc all done in both English and French.

well, my question is that what does "at the same token" mean ?
i know token is the past participle of take or noun, but it's so strange for me, at the same token..... i will be crazy

2nd.

At the rate I am going I will be conversationally fluent by the time I am 100.

what's the meaning of at the rate? (i will be crazy once again... : )

Hello Atoom,

1) 'At the same token...' simply means 'In like manner...' or 'Similarly...'
2) 'At the rate I'm going...' - At the pace (tempo, speed) of my learning (obviously rather slow, since the author expects to be conversationally proficient by the time he/she reaches the age of 100.)
