Default "how" or "what', or both

    Hi,
Is the following sentence grammatically correct?

He often reminds me "how" we learn from expriences is more important than what we have learned from books.

Is "how" ok here? or I have to replace it with "what?"
Or both are correct, but with different meanings.

    Thanks!

They both sound fine. Both what/how work OK in this sentence.
how we learn ... = the manner in which we learn things /through hardships for example, through pain, disappointmnets, etc.
what we learn = the outcome of our experiences: we gain better understanding of others, compassion, their needs, our own needs, etc.
