Difficulties in acquiring listening skill

Hi all!

I'm a teacher and now I'm carrying out a master thesis that focuses on analysing the difficulties of first-year students in learning listening skill. However I lack of background information for this. So would you be so kind enough to send me some links or some information you know about this field?

If possible, please give me any helpful suggestions so that I can build up an outline plan for my thesis paper.

When you say first year, do you mean beginners? Also, what language background do these students have? This can affect things greatly.
