Would omiting the adverb 'Anywhere' resulted in a slight change in meaning?

The word should have been 'Vietnamese' but I replaced it with 'refugees'.

'Anywhere' just implies that we really don't have much idea where the number lies. You wouldn't say 'anywhere between five and eight people were there' because the margin is too small.![]()
