    Default Anywhere between vs. between

    Thanks:)

Anywhere between 1 and 2 million refugees died.

Would omiting the adverb 'Anywhere' resulted in a slight change in meaning?
    Any reply will be appreciated.

Not as far as I can see. Either way, it quite a large margin of error!

The word should have been 'Vietnamese' but I replaced it with 'refugees'.

    Thanks you very much!

'Anywhere' just implies that we really don't have much idea where the number lies. You wouldn't say 'anywhere between five and eight people were there' because the margin is too small.
