Is there any difference between:
1-You are eating too much dairy.
and:
2-You eat too much dairy.
Does 1 imply that that is what you are doing these days, but not necessarily a habit you have?
(I am excluding the possibility of the sentence being about what is happening right now, in which case only 1 could be used.)

It would ultimately depend on context, but in general use I think they imply similar things. 1. could be regarded as something of the moment, though.
Isn't it so that Present Continuous can also be used to express annoyance with someone's actions? Like in the following example:
'You're always leaving your clothes spread all over the room!...'
where apparently Simple Present would seem more appropriate ('always'), but the progressive version is perfectly in place. What do you think?
