Which of the following is correct:
1-He was a young man not tall but strong.
2-He was a young man, not tall but strong.
3-He was a young man strong but not tall.
2-He was a young man, strong but not tall.

I favor sentences two and four. It is usual for a descriptive phrase following a noun to be set off by commas (in this case, a comma and a period).
