GRAMMAR PROBLEMS

Dear friends...
It's not my homework but it's a question that I have on my student's book.I really don't understand this exercise and I'm asking your help.I missed this class and now we are on vacations.
I have to complete this sentence with present perfect, present perfect continuous or past simple form of the verbs in parentheses, plus for,since,yet or still where possible and/or necessary.
**I(not go) to the fairground________ages,thought I don’t suppose it (change)very much_____my parents(take)me there back in the 1980s.**
My answer is... I haven’t gone to the fairground for ages, though I don’t suppose it has changed very much since my parents took me there back in the 1980s.
The problem is : "I haven't gone" is wrong?

Your choices seem good to me.
However, I have a problem with "thought".Are you fully sure the word belongs there?
Something like "because" would make more sense in my opinion.

I haven't gone to the fairground for ages because I don't suppose it has changed very much since my parents took me there back in the 1980s.

What do you think?

And who says "haven't gone" is wrong?
Another option would be "I haven't been going", but I don't see a reason not to use "I haven't gone".

Nightmare85: "Haven't been going" wouldn't work with "for ages". And I don't see "thought" in Marcelle's sentence.

That's just a typo. it's though, not thought.

No.

If you are away from home, you can say "I haven't been gone long" to refer to the short period of time you have been away FROM home.

You cannot say "I haven't been gone long" TO somewhere.
