    Red face Been vs. went

    Please could you explain in simple terms why the below answer is incorrect:
    “Have you got any money?”
    “Yes, I’ve been to the bank yesterday”

    Have you got any money?
    = Do you have any money?

    Yes, I do. I went to the bank yesterday. Why ask?


    I don't think it incorrect. I could be wrong.

    You cannot use the present perfect with finished time expressions.
    You must use the simple past in this case.

    Have you got any money?
    Yes, I've been to the bank TODAY.

    Have you got any money?
    Yes, I WENT to the bank yesterday.
