to keep (a person) going
Dear teachers,
Would you be kind enough to tell me whether I am right with my interpretation of the expression in bold in the following sentences?
Jan was so pale, so thin, so exhausted. It was a wonder what kept her alive.
I kept myself going on black coffee, whiskey and cigarettes.
to keep (a person) alive = to keep (a person) going
Thanks for your efforts.
Regards,
V.

Yes, Vil,
I'd say you've got that right.
