    Default the word 'hung'

    Can someone be hung?
    or should you write: he was hanged

    He/she was hung for their crime?
    He/she was hanged for their crime?

    please can you explain the correct way to write about a hanging?

    People are hanged; pictures are hung. This is only a guideline, and it is frequently ignored by some of the best writers of English.
