Some might disagree with the assertion but media the fourth pillar of state, entrusted with the responsibility to maintain checks and balances over the functioning of government, and performing the same in the good spirit, with the efficiency, and care; media in Pakistan is playing no such a role. Instead it has become a commodity like every other institution in Pakistan, and the higher bidder will have it and use it for his own interests. However what we see as the positive impacts of media in our backward society: political awareness, education, etc , are the inevitable consequences of the fight among the power mongers, and media is one of the stakeholder in the show. People are growing mature politically and in other aspects as result of this tussle. What I want to say is: media is not playing its due role irrespective of its inevitable positive role.
