Dear teachers,
Would you be kind enough to tell me whether I am right with my interpretation of the expressions in bold in the following sentence?
Whenever I tried to somehow scare or harass her, she never flinched.
scare = cause fear in
harass = annoy continually or chronically
never flinched = don’t turn a hair at a time
Thanks for your efforts.
Regards,
V.
You're nearly right.
'Flinch' is a more likely reaction to a sudden shock, rather than continual annoyance.
