Can one say:
1-I shouldn't eat many things.
instead of:
1a-There are many things I shouldn't eat.
Can one say:
2-I shouldn't eat too many things.
instead of:
2a-There are too many things I shouldn't eat.
I know that normally 1 mean either means I should limit myself to a
small number of things when I am eating (so either the variety or the
quantity sould be limited), but it seems to me that the sentence could
have that other meaning and is used in the other case with a strong
stress on 'many things'
I think the same applies for 2.
1 Yes, though it is less clear.
2 2 works better than 2a, which doesn't sound natural to me.
