Hi, I am going to write a letter to Home Office informing them about an urgent situation. I have sent my travel dcument application form to their department but I have not heard anything from them yet, however, I have got a letter from my school enphasising the fact that I need my passport soon for a trip that I am attending.
The problem is that I don't know how to start my letter and mostly how to structure it.
I appreciate your help !!!
Start it "Dear Sir/Madam"
Ensure you give your full name, date of birth, nationality, passport number and the reason and date of your application.
Explain briefly that you need your passport back urgently and why.
Make the letter short and to the point. Do not waste words being overly polite, they receive hundreds of these kinds of letters every day. Do not expect a fast reply. You can try telephoning them first to see if they can track down which department your passport is currently in.
Keep this is mind - if you take your passport back and leave the country, your application will probably be cancelled and you will have to start again when you come back into the UK.
