Dear teachers,
Would you been kind enough to share with me your opinion concerning the mentioned below interpretations of the expressions in bold in the following sentences?
Even here such ad hoc Anglo-American co-operation as occurred produced mixed feelings in London.
ad hoc = for the specific purpose, case, or situation at hand and for no other/ improvised and often impromptu
Martin Gardner reports on this type of ad hoc hypothesizing reaching a ludicrous peak with para-physicist Helmut Schmidt who put cockroaches in a box where they could give themselves electric shocks.
ad hoc hypothesis = a specific hypothesis put forward for the interpretation of the case or a separate phenomenon/ the assumption is adopted specifically to describe or explain the specific phenomenon and not systematically related to the previous knowledge of it
Thanks for your efforts.
Regards,
V.

Ad hoc: not planned, but arranged or done only when necessary. Originally from Latin meaning "for this"
