    Default preposition

Which one is the correct preposition in the following sentence?
My family moved here, when I was in/at highschool.

    Thanks

In BrE it's "at highschool", I think you will find that Americans tend to use "in highschool". So both are used, you have to choose which one you like.

I'll confirm that we'd say "in school."

If you say you're family moved while you were "at school" it sounds like they packed up and left while you were in school that day.

I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.

    Hello, Mr. Mckane.

    Yes, Americans would say:

My family moved here [no comma] when I

was in high school [two words].

    Thank you
