    Default The word deliverance

    Hello all,

I checked this word in the dictionary but I still have some questions about it.
Are these rephrases of this sentence "Deliverance from the power of sin" correct?

1.The state of being saved from the influence of sin.
2.The state of having avoided the influence of sin.
3.The state of avoiding/evading/escaping from the influence of sin.
Does deliverance from the penalty of sin mean the escape from your sin when you avoid punishment because you are guilty or the state when you are forgiven or because the person was not guilty at all.
What other synonyms of the "deliverance" can I use?
    Thank you.

Deliverance is associated with to be be delivered. One is delivered from sin, or taken away from sin and toward goodness. You can be saved (a common phrase among Protestants in the US) from sin. It doesn't directly mean that you avoid the influence of sin - though that may be an effect. The synonyms depend on what you are trying to state - "Saved" is a common one.
