    Default ungrammatical?

    "I am being rude all the time." A line from Twilight. present perfect... future, past... Is this sentence grammatical? If not, why not?

    In my opinion, no! "I am being..." is the present continuous and shouldn't be followed by "all the time".

    I am being rude [at the moment].
    I am rude all the time.

    Thank you emsr2d2. This is, indeed, a tricky sentence. I wonder if you would explain your thinking a little further. While I would not call it a very graceful sentence, I do not yet understand why it is not correct.

    For instance, can't we say the following?
    I am trying hard to get back in shape; as a result, I am running every day.

    Does it in any way have to do with the use of "being." For instance, would it be better to say,
    I am acting rude[ly] all the time.
    (Note the change to adverb.)

    Or does it change it if I were to expand it,
    I find these days that I am acting rude[ly] all the time.

    And thank you, phylad, for bringing this question. I need to refresh my understanding of the present continuous.
