Could you plz evaluate my draft of my SOP:)
Aspirations Never Die! I am recently in the final year of the graduate program, graduating in October, 2010 in Electrical Engineering with Emphasis on Internet Systems from Blekinge Institute of Technology (BIT), Sweden. The background preparation I have made, my research interests, and career goals are enlisted in the sections that follow.

In early age, I realized I had a profound inclination to be inquisitive for the cause and effect of events, and, in particular, during my school and college years I enjoyed studying the natural sciences like mathematics, physics and chemistry more than any other courses. My father is a school teacher whose persuade is the most vital craze for my life to be the first one and I always secured 1st/2nd position in the class for 10 years school life.

In 1998, I moved from the village to the city where I was admitted in one of the best college in the state of my home country. My interest in computer science was blossomed right through the computer course of my college years. It was the time when computer technology had begun to make an impact on the lives of people in Bangladesh. With this course, I found myself in new realms of interest in the field of computer science I have dreamt of being an engineer in. Hence I participated in a nation-wide university entrance exam and got the rank of 32nd among 6,500 sort-listed participants and luckily secured admission in Computer Science and Engineering in RUET, the most competitive technical university in my home country which ranks 2nd position in research and publication and 3rd in standard of education.

While in this program I took courses in Computer Networks, Data Communications, Computer Architecture, C/C++, Network Security and Java. These engineering courses deepened my knowledge of the engineering aspects of networking and object-oriented programming that changed the way I viewed computer systems and software. In final year of my undergraduate, I undertook my B.Sc. thesis entitled "Performance Analysis of Novel Evolutionary Algorithm (Genetic Algorithm)" provided me a great opportunity to turn out to be acquainted with the primary foundation of doing research. The purpose of this thesis was to evaluate the performance of genetic algorithm to show that it provides the optimum solution. I carried out the algorithmic evaluation by using C language and my analytical results showed that it gives a better performance. Through the BSc thesis I grasped the nuances of the scientific method and strengthened my knowledge in C language. I underwent for the Cisco Networking Academy Program that has broadened my knowledge in the computer networking field.

At the moment of my undergraduate completion, my turn in progress in financially helping my family, thus I pursued a job consequently I participated in the examination of the National ICT Internship Program organized by the Bangladesh Computer Council and secured an interne position in a software company. By doing an internship in the software company took me just on the way of hands-on experience of in C++ and Visual Basic. However, six months at that company made me realize that further being a programmer in a software company was not the sort of career I was looking at, then moved to networking, switched to being a network support engineer in Aamra Networks Ltd which is one of the leading ISP in Bangladesh where I was responsible to proactively monitor WAN connectivity by using monitoring software and correspond with others engineers regarding the technical issues, for instance if further any possible network outage encountered within the network, first of all I was supposed to try to resolve by myself other than immediately escalated to the higher technical support department in order to have them informed about the ongoing issues and keep the status of the network up-to-date. My responsibilities also include providing solutions to the customers over phone or via email or going in person to the customers' end to resolve the problems. I got the opportunity to work with a team of senior technical support engineers those have taught me how to configure, manage, troubleshoot Linux server, LAN, Cisco switch & Router. It was a really great chance to be introduced with the ISP (Internet Service Provider) atmosphere and that experience gave me the real empowerment of further working in the computer networking area. In the sphere of computer networking, I acquired the first-time hands-on experience in networking, as time continued computer networking was being shaped in my mind. As the ingredient of my experience, I had built experience upon router, switch, LAN, Linux Server as a gateway configuration and installation.

In June, 2006, I switched in the Signal Mountain Networks BD. Ltd. where I served as a support engineer in the Network Management Center (NMC) of Signal Mountain Networks. My responsibilities were pretty challenging as I was supposed to work for 12 hours per day, weekly 5days during particularly the night shift. Signal Mountain Network is an ISP being in the USA provides the network services as of the MPLS, VPN, VoIP, Frame Relay, DSL, VSAT & wireless networks. So I was supposed to coordinate with the engineers of HNS, iDirect, AVL, New Edge, Sprint, SES Americom, & ShoreTel IP phone concerning the various technical issues. Throughout the job I have learned many things which are concerned with computer networking.

Over the course of professional experience, I realized the best way of envisaging the state-of-art technology is to do further higher studies and eventually get involved in the research field. The passion and the vigor in me to delve deep into the future computer networks haven't lessened or else my quest of aspirations would not bring me in Sweden for graduate studies after 3 years of academic hiatus. Realizing the value of this I settled on to limit extent my ideas and interest to the area of networks and it helped me fuel my desire and ambition to pursue an MSc in Electrical Engineering with Emphasis on Internet Systems in BIT, Sweden. The MSc in Internet Systems from BIT has supplemented my work experience in the field of Networking where I have gained high credentials. The TCP/IP, Wireless Networks, Computer Security and Network Management courses including the projects and lab works have provided me with sound foundation in networking studies as to enable me to suit any functional responsibility.

In my first year, I undertook the challenging assignment of designing a network that was based on FCAPS that has improved my network designing concepts. I undertook a research project entitled "Comparative Analysis of VOIP Implementation in MPLS over Non-MPLS network". In this paper I made a comparative study between MPLS and non-MPLS network for the VoIP traffic where simulation done using the OPNET. By analyzing these factors I have shown that the MPLS network has the better performance comparing to the non-MPLS network. During this project, I learned how to work with OPNET simulator and its related packages.

To strengthen my background in this field, I have chosen a topic of master's thesis that relates with QoS and for the past four months, I am working on my master's thesis with Professor Adrian Popescu; entitled "QoS Performance Evaluation of Real-Time Applications over IPv4/IPv6 Networks by using OPNET" aims to provide a thorough analysis of how well QoS performs in the IPv4/IPv6 networks. The objective of my thesis work is to provide a thorough understanding of how real-time application operates in the IPv4/IPv6, understand the interaction of EF traffic aggregation, link congestion, the effect of various performance metrics, analyze the different queuing schemes (FIFO, PQ, CQ & WFQ) for providing lower packet loss and delay when real-time traffic aggregation and link congestion occur.

Aside from the academic life, I regularly participated in various volunteer programs and tried to perform duties associated to me as a human with equal respect and honesty. I am a big lover of nature and contributed to its preservation in every possible way.

In addition, I believe that the culmination of my undergraduate, master's studies, and three years professional experiences as a support engineer has moulded me psychologically and has been an underpinning of immense step up over my analytical skills along with interpersonal abilities, which will play a vital role in helping me get a better exposure in the field of my choice through research. I have found that X is one of the topmost research organizations in the world, particularly in the computer science field. However, what make me to choose it to follow my education in are its great network labs with its up-to-date research facilities. Now as I approach the crossroads of my learning I have absolutely no doubt in pursuing a career in the research arena. In order to establish my breadth in the computer networking topics, I haven't yet covered in detail. So I intend to master the current computer networking advanced concepts in the rich and flexible environment of X Networks. I am greatly impressed with the high quality of research being done on Computer Networks in the X Networks. The subject of research which interests me very much is QoS in the Heterogeneous Wired/Wireless Networks, as of my ongoing master's thesis work already partly being focused on. I would also love to enrich myself in the field of Networks Protocol as well as Wireless-based Networking and ultimately carry out remarkable contribution in the ever-growing field of Computer Networks by joining X research group. I have conviction that this environment will be ideally suited to realize my goals. In the process I am confident of contributing significantly in the research efforts of the department as well as to the human society.
