reconcile/ indenture/ apprentice
Dear teachers,
Would you be kind enough to tell me whether I am right with my interpretation of the expressions in bold in the following sentence?
And so the schoolmistress reconciled the recommendation to her conscience, and the indentures were canceled, and the apprentice was free.
reconcile= to become compatible or consistent
indenture = a deed or legal contract executed between two or more parties; a contract binding one party into the service of another for a specified term
apprentice = someone who works for an expert in order to learn a trade
Thanks for your efforts.
Regards,
V.
