Default Looking for a word

I am looking for a word to express a description or an illustration being or making its subject shallow or flat, that it, that it fails to capture its depth, complexity, multifacetedness and so forth.

I am almost sure I know a right word, but I fail to pull it out of my memory...

'unidimensional' is an adjective that closely corresponds to the definition you've given, although I cannot guarantee it's the one that's on your mind

Thanks. No, this is not the word I was looking for... I am looking for something more accurate.

OK. I'll venture another guess: 'superficial'?

BTW, I'm not sure if that's an adjective you're looking for, a verb, perhaps? I've concentrated on adjectives, so far.
