Default The moment was captured by the teacher

Hello everyone, when I was in high school, once I helped someone to pick up a pen in a math class, after I did it the one who asked me to give him a hand stretched his right hand to me(wanted to shake hand's with me), I gave out my right hand to him unhesitatingly but unfortunately the teacher saw what we were doing.

I wonder if I can say:

The moment I shook hands with my classmate was captured by my math teacher?

    Thanks
