Hey all, thank you for this great forum.
I would like to ask, which is more correct, and why.
"he noticed the afternoon sun slowly disappearing through the windows"
"he noticed the afternoon sun slowly disappear through the windows"
I'm thinking the first is better because "the afternoon sun slowly disappearing through the windows" would work like an absolute construction, object of the verb "noticed". But the first one sounds right too, and I'm not sure which is better.
I would love any advice :)
With 'noticed' I'd definititely use the first. The second implies seeing everything, which doesn't go with 'noticed'. You could say 'watched the sun slowly disappear' for the whole action or 'disappearing' for part.
