Default meanings

Dear Teacher:

I am not quite sure about the meanings of the following bracketed word and clause. Would you please do me a favor?

1. By October the days were (blue) and cool.

2. He wanted to reach out his hand and her touch sunburned, tousled hair -(not as he had ever touched a woman.)

Thanks a lot.

Default Re: meanings

1- Not sure, could be a reference to clear skies.
2- He wanted to touch her in a way he hadn't touched a woman before- probably sexual.
