    Default Be down for/entered for?

    my question is about BE DOWN FOR
    In a sentence: I'm down for a place at medical school.
    the definition i found is "entered for" but i dont get the meaning thoroughly.

    "I am down for" or "I have put myself down for" mean "I have made an application for".
