There seems to be a typing error, Amigo-- the grammar is a little strange.

There's not enough context for me to be sure, but perhaps it means that Mary is staring hard, concentrating on her daughter's 10-cent coin, rather than asking her the necessary questions about her activities.

I got this dialog from a TV movie, the movie is about a underage girl who are scouted and got into modeling business, the boss of that agency has misleaded that girl doing something beyond on the internet. The girl's mom found a big paycheck on her daughter's desk one day. And she was questioning with the boss of the agency. The boss says that dialog.

So I'll just change my suggestion a little bit:

Mary is staring hard, concentrating on her daughter's large check, rather than asking her the necessary questions about her activities.

The mother is staring shocked (paralyzed) at the large amount of money. 'Dime', I suppose, is slang for money, though it is not a familiar one to me.
