Default an English language problem

Hello!

I am an English teacher who teaches Korean students.

I gave an English question to my students as one of the final exam questions.

I asked them to rewrite the sentence, 'You may find hard to accept your illness' into a

grammatically right sentence. Of course, the answer is 'You may find it hard to accept

your illness.' But I found an anwer of my students, such as 'You may find it is hard to

accept your illness.' I think this sentence is grammatically not wrong, but 'You may find it

hard to accept your illness' is a better anwer. Not knowing what to do with this answer,

I am asking for help. Should I admit 'You may find it is hard to accept your illness' as

a correct answer. If I can't find a particular reason why it is gramatically wrong, I think

I should admit it as a correct answer. So, tell me what you would do if you were in my

shoes.

I'd appreciate if you could respond quickly. Thank you very much!!!

From confused.

I'd mark it correct and suggest in feedback that your version is more common. I would always say that if a student can come up with a correct answer, even if not the one desired, then they should get the mark.

Additionally, the student read "it" as a subject, and the reason "is" was provided:

You may find (that) it is hard to accept your illness.

You might also consider: "You may find your illness hard to accept," or "Your illness, you may find, is hard to accept." If I think about it, I may find two or three more ways of saying the exact same thing.

Welcome to the forum.
